Me

My name is Naoko, which is my name and the name for this website.

I live in the UK now, but was born in Japan and brought up there for most of my life.

It was in 2009 that I came to the UK to volunteer in various organic farms as I loved growing vegetables and felt it was great healing to be in nature after having seen my mum died of cancer. I started to question 'the real health', then naturally I was led to choose the path I've been on until today.

I am not a 'trained' chef, although I have worked in a few restaurants and cafes. Working in a busy, fast paced and almost war-like kitchen is not for me. Rather I enjoy being on my own in the kitchen, feeling each ingredient, creating something delicious and sharing it with others. Doing so brings me a great joy and happiness. I see this as a gift in my life and I am just thankful.

My Diet

As well as making a change from an animal based diet to a plant based diet, doing yoga and other exercises greatly influenced my health and well-being in many ways. By all these combined I naturally lost weight, gained strength and maintaining my figure is effortless now. I love feeling healthy and I love my body.

I don't eat thinking 'I should' or 'I shouldn't'. I eat what I want, as much as I want, whenever I want. Often people are surprised to see how much and how often I eat!! I eat what makes my body happy, nourished and purified. Steamed vegetables and two (not one!) bowls of rice with a little soy sauce can easily make me happy :-)  Having said this, I sometimes love munching bombay mix or tortilla chips! I eat lots of fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, beans, lentils and I love my homemade hoummous.

When I'm at home, my breakfast is usually between 10 and 11am as I like doing yoga or exercises  before putting food into my body.  If this isn't possible because of work etc. then I eat some fruits on the go followed by maybe porridge depending on how I feel.

I love snacks. I often make a snack by blending dried fruits, seeds and nuts. This is so simple and delicious! Thanks for my blender for working so hard!

What you eat can improve your health certainly, this is what I realized in my own journey. I am not saying I'm always snacking on celery stalks though! Real health is not all about food after all and there is more to life. However, my passion for food keeps telling me that I am here to share it with you all to enjoy beautiful foods, grow together and add a little more happiness to your life. ☺
